Below is a daily average of a typical travel budget for Honduras. Costs include accommodations and food in US dollars.
Airport Transfer: Avoid the hassle of cabs and book a private transfer into Roatan here.
Water Taxis: To get from West Bay Beach to the main town ‘West End’ you can take a water taxi for $3/person each way. Go for the day, and walk around the local town, however make sure you get back before night, as the water taxis stop running then.
For the best value, check out the all-inclusive packages on Expedia for packages that include airfare, accommodations AND food and & drinks. You’ll end up saving a lot more by bundling everything together.
TripAdvisor Room Tip: “Beach front room, you want to wake up with that view for sure.”– TripAdvisor
TripAdvisor Room Tip: “If you don’t mind climbing stairs, get a room on the 2nd floor as you won’t hear people walking above you.”
TripAdvisor Room Tip: “ocean views are only on first two buildings close to beach and 2nd or 3rd floor. mainly oceanfront first building”
Cost: Free for snorkelers if you bring your own gear as you can snorkel right off the beach. Scuba diving will cost you depending on the trip, but the most recommended operator on TripAdvisor is West Bay Divers.
Duration: 1-2 hours.
Tip: For the best snorkeling, walk to the very end of the beach, past Infinity Bay Resort. It’s recommended to go first thing in the morning, or after the cruise ship crowd as left.
“It’s almost like you’re in an aquarium, it’s really fantastic and the water is just amazing. High tide is best, but either way you won’t be disappointed. Bring a beach towel, some Salva Vida’s, maybe something to read and enjoy a few hours at the beach.”-Exploring Life’s Mysteries
